Virtual School

The virtual school is a strange idea but is really useful to children and young people in care.

If you are in care and attend a school, no matter which school it is, you are also a pupil of the virtual school. The school has no building but it does have a Headteacher, a lead teacher, teachers/Learning support workers and even a board of Governers. All of these people work together to try and improve the education for all children and young people in care.

The virtual school was set up as the Government could see that children and young people in care do not always do as well at school as children and young people not in care.

There are many different ways that the Virtual school helps.

  • It provides information to teachers and other professionals about the needs of children and young people in care.
  • It looks at what is going on Nationally and makes sure Norfolk is up to date on all things that may support children and young people.
  • It can provide extra one to one help for some children and young people who need help.
