Leaving care by shayne

My experiences of leaving care have been good I am currently still living with my foster parents but am planning to get my own place in the city after I have saved up some money. I found it good as I have had a stable placement and have been with my foster parents for over 13 years and have had some really good social workers that helped a lot.

The difficulties are that some narrow minded people look at you differently as they don't understand that being in care is NOT the young persons fault and that they aren't all troublemakers. There are many reasons for a young person going into care from either their parents not being able to cope to a death.

The skills you need to prepare you for leaving care are budgeting, stability, confidence and a good sense of reality as you will start having to buy food cleaning products and pay rent which isn't easy if you don't know how to save money or put money aside.
