Who or what is a reviewing officer?
This sounds very official but it's not although they do have an important job to do.
The Reviewing Officer works for Children's Services. Their job is to manage or chair your review meeting but they are not otherwise involved with you, e.g. they are not the manager for your social worker.
The Independent Reviewing Officer will come to see you before the review if you would like them to.
She or he will
- Introduce themselves
- See what you want to say
- Check that you know what is going to be talked about
- Make sure you are able to take part in the meeting and talk about how you want to do this
Afterwards they write up what was discussed and a list of decisions made.
You and others present should receive a copy of this. Any people who were invited but could not come will also receive a copy.
